Lorain County Community College
Lorain County Community College is a community college located in the city of Elyria in Lorain County, Ohio. This school lies in the Northeast area of Ohio and is one of Ohio's fastest-growing community colleges, because of its variety if learning opportunities it provides by offering an array of programs and services.
The school introduces students to a college campus environment and encourages personal exploration, growth and discovery of new interests. It offers a rewarding experience due to its courses, educational partnerships, facilities, students, professors and campus setting. The college is part of the University System of Ohio, one of the largest comprehensive public systems of higher education in the nation. The public colleges, universities, and other education programs of Ohio work with close to 600,000 students and offer every option from a GED to a Ph.D.
Lorain County is the only community college in the state that offers a University Partnership, which enables people to earn bachelors and masters degrees from eight different Ohio universities without having to leave the Lorain County campus.
The college is named one of the top 120 community colleges in the United States. It focuses on student retention, graduation rate, and improvement of completion performance over time. It is the first college in the state to build an advanced technologies center for business and industry, and the largest provider of e-learning programs in northern Ohio.
Lorain County gives students the opportunity to earn an associate of arts degree entirely online. They can even work from home with a wide range of Distance Learning courses available via the Internet, television and video media.
Applied Associate Degree programs allow students to earn a degree in a specific major. Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degree programs are transfer degrees, and are designed for students who intend to continue their educations after Lorain County Community College. Short degrees and concentrated vocational training also gives students the opportunity to get into the workforce or make a career change quickly.
